Billings Ovulation Method (BOM) Developed by Australian physicians Drs. John and Evelyn Billings, the Billings Ovulation Method is taught and used in 120 countries around the world. Recent studies conducted in China, India, and Indonesia conclude the Billings Ovulation Method is 99.15 percent effective in postponing pregnancy. Couples learn to identify the woman's natural times of fertility and infertility based on the changing sensation at the vulva (without the use of temperature or internal cervical checks). Incorporating the three simple rules before ovulation and one rule after, couples are able to effectively achieve or postpone pregnancy. - BOMA
Creighton Model (CrM) The Creighton Model FertilityCareTM System relies upon the observation of biological markers that are essential to human fertility and a woman's health. These biological markers tell the couple when they are naturally fertile and not fertile. The FertilityCareTM System has been extensively evaluated over the past 20 years through research, first at St. Louis University and Creighton University Schools of Medicine and most recently at Pope Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction (Omaha, Nebraska). Because of its standardized and objective format, it has been instrumental in the development of a new reproductive and gynecological science called NaProTechnology®. This new science allows a woman to monitor and maintain her procreative and gynecological health. - PPVI
Marquette Model (MM) The Marquette Model is a unique method of NFP because it combines 21st century technology with natural, biological markers of fertility. It uses the Clearplan Easy Fertility Monitor, which is a device used in the home to measure hormone levels (estrogen and LH) found in urine, in conjunction with observations of cervical mucus or Basal Body Temperature. Through incorporating these different markers into their monthly charting, couples using the Marquette Model can confidently and accurately predict the period of high fertility in the woman's cycle. - MUCN
Ovulation Method (OM) The Ovulation Method is not the old "rhythm method" or the temperature method. It is a scientifically proven method, researched by Dr. John Billings, based on the simple recognition of natural signs of fertility that appear for a few days during the woman's menstrual cycle. By keeping accurate records, a woman can now confidently identify the fertile and infertile phases of her cycle. Women with long or irregular cycles, breast-feeding mothers, and even those going through pre-menopause or discontinuing artificial methods of family planning may use the Ovulation Method safely and effectively. - FAF
Sympto-Thermal Method (STM) With the Sympto-Thermal Method of Natural Family Planning, you determine the fertile and infertile times by using mucus and temperature signs in a cross-checking way. This involves about a minute each morning to take your waking temperature and a few moments throughout the day to become aware of cervical mucus. In the Couple to Couple League, you also learn about Ecological Breastfeeding, the kind of nursing that truly does space babies-on the average about two years apart. The Sympto-Thermal Method is 99% effective in postponing pregnancy when it is used properly. It is also used with considerable success by couples trying to conceive-even when they've previously had difficulty achieving pregnancy. - CCL
